Your computer is an integral part of your organization, the same as a telephone, copier, or facsimile machine. These things all make your employees more efficient than they would otherwise be without them. This efficiency is not derived from the simple fact that they are there. It is derived from HOW they are integrated into YOUR business environment. A well-integrated environment can mean big savings. A poorly integrated environment can mean big headaches!
Computers are different from the other three for several reasons. First, in most cases, your computer investment is greater than that in your phone system, and all your copiers and fax machines combined. Second, everybody understands how the three items work, with little or no training. With the exception of the "bells and whistles", a copier at a Fortune 500 Company works the same as a copier in a one-person office. Using a computer, however, means different things to different people. The third and most important difference is that unlike the other three, a computer can be almost anything you want it to be (including a fax, phone, and copier). It's capabilities are limited only by your imagination, your schedule, and your checkbook.
Your computer is a nearly universal tool! Applied correctly, it can make your business efficient and productive beyond your wildest dreams. Applied incorrectly, it can be one of your worst nightmares! The difference between a dream and a nightmare is EXPERIENCE.
